Loose Buttons: Lateness Edition

30 Dec

The Christmas holiday was a blast and I was so busy celebrating with my family and friends that I sadly neglected this little corner-blog.  Life happens, right?  Another sad tale of neglect is that I didn’t take any photos this year of holiday shenanigans so my memories will have to suffice.

My sweetie-pie Mister must have been keeping a close eye on my Christmas posts because many, many pairs of tights were gifted to me including two fleece-lined pairs that are soooo warm and cozy!  I also received a sewing machine (!!!), a lovely new cashmere scarf, a gorgeous crystal necklace (from my dearest friend L.), and lots of other goodies.  More importantly, I got to spend lots of time relaxing and enjoying the holiday spirit.

You may remember that I hinted about making gifts this year, and I can now reveal that the Mister & I made several kinds of hand-milled soap including Olde Fashioned Shaving soap, a Shea-butter & Goats milk oatmeal blend, some lovely lemon-lavender & aloe soaps for the ladies, and soap-on-a-rope for the menfolk.  We also gifted lip balm and massage bars, all created with a bit of time & lots of love. ♥

A few other highlights:

♥ hilarious/hysterical phone calls to my sister about our crazy holiday stories
♥ champagne toasts with out-of-town relatives to celebrate my engagement to the Mister
♥ sharing the first hour of Christmas with our closest friends at their lovely home
♥ waking up on Christmas morning to the smell of bacon frying (mmm!) in the kitchen
♥ long drives & heartfelt talks about the future & goals
♥ giant snowstorms & porch igloos (seriously!)

Anyhooo, despite the lateness of this post, here is this week’s Loose Buttons: a collection of images & links that kept me happy over the past week.

I can’t get enough of The Civil Wars! Haunting, emotional & soaring music full of harmony.

I loved this article from Adore Vintage about how to date vintage lingerie from old advertisements. The post is full of great tips and cute images, including this one.

How amazing is this boudoir?!  This is my dream closet!

Gorgeous, sultry dress.  This dress from Shabby Apple would be an amazing New Years party dress, perfect for smoking in dark hallways and drinking champagne out of crystal flutes.

Okay my sweets, that concludes this Loose Buttons Edition for the week ending December 25, 2010.  I hope you had a very merry holiday!  Let’s look onward to the coming celebrations of another year closing doors while opening windows into next year!  Cheers!
