Hello Darlings!  Welcome to another edition of Loose Buttons where I gather up any number of whimsical, frilly, pretty things for your peepers to feast upon.

The weather in New England has been so amazing over the past few days; its positively spring-like!.  We have had soooo much snow this winter & its finally starting to melt away a bit….although I’m sure we’ll still have giant piles of icky snow on the ground until May.

This past week has been so full of great moments, aside from starting off feeling rather ill!  But let me tell you, a dozen purple tulips and lots of love certainly helped me feel better!

The week capped off with a lovely dinner night with a bunch of girlfriends, an Indian-dinner birthday feast with another group of girlfriends, followed by a low-key night out with my Mister, and our closest friends for a night of music & lounging at the fantastic Gulu Gulu cafe in Salem.

I have so much to look forward to over the next two months.  Lots of projects to work on, spontaneous visits form my Niece, many-many-many amazing concerts to attend (Murder by Death, Warpaint, Queens of the Stone Age, Pinback), visits from out-of-town friends, and maybe, just maybe, a bit of wedding planning.

In the meantime, here at Mairose Headquarters, the Mr. & I are working on some new soap recipes and I’m finally catching up on a few sewing projects.  We’re also getting started on plans for this year’s garden which I’m so excited about!  I bought a ton of seeds about a month ago and can’t wait to start germinating them!!  I might even take/post photos & have a weekly garden update!  Stay tuned!

I LOVE these illustrations by Brisbane AU-based artist, Moie Preisenberger.

I’m also mildly obsessed with model & curvaceous vixen, Erika Elfwencrona.  She’s easily the most recognizable lingerie model for the popular website Simply Yours.  She’s amazing.  Seriously.

Petite Coquette previewed the A/W11 collection from Les Jupons des Tess, and the lookbook is so frisky and fun, featuring two lovely blondes, french tickler feathers, lots of swiss-dot lingerie and sumptuous styling.

Also from Petite Coquette is a fantastic set of photos from the AW11 Salon de la Lingerie in Paris.  There is some amazing lingerie on the horizon my darlings.  MMM…I love the use of feathers and marabou (although I’d love to see more designers using synthetic trimming).  The trend of vintage & retro-inspired lingerie seems to be growing ever stronger, especially the use of softer, muted colors and a return to highly-structured garments.

Over in wedding-blog land, the world has been all a-twitter about Anthropologie’s new wedding-apparal line, BHLDN (or “beholden”).  While I’m not crazy about the old-timey connotations of the name, the brand is defined into collections based on the “type of bride” one might be, such as “neo-sophisticate”, “nostalgic romantic”, and “la bohiemme”.  There is also an adorable “Nuptials of Yesteryear” which is a collection of vintage wedding-party photographs.  Its clear that the inspiration behind the bridal line was a return to classic styling that corresponds to specific lifestyles and personalities.  The dress collection is unique, delicate and clever-looking.  The prices are not too bad considering and would make a fine resource for brides on a budget.  The BHLDN collection also includes shoes, hairpieces, shrugs & gorgeous cover-ups, and jewelry.

While the array of wedding dresses is pretty sweet, I’m more impressed with their lingerie offerings featuring exclusive designs from Mimi Holiday, Undrest, Fleur Wood, and Hanky Panky.
