A Whole New World

7 May

Hello kittens! At long last, I have most exciting news!

Welcome to the new and vastly improved Mairose Boutique! The site has gone through an extensive re-design, thanks to the talents of the wonderful <a title=”Viva La Violette” href=”http://vivalaviolette.com&#8221; target=”_blank”>Viva La Violette</a>.  Much love to Heather for her incredible patience and creativity throughout a very long process, and for presenting me with the website of my dreams (literally). I highly recommend her services if you have need of any sort of graphic design! She’s gracious, patient and full of southern charm! She won’t steer you wrong! Check out her <a title=”Viva La Violette Portfolio” href=”http://www.vivalaviolette.com/portfolio.html&#8221; target=”_blank”>portfolio</a>, and stop by her <a title=”Viva La Blogette” href=”http://www.vivalablogette.com/&#8221; target=”_blank”>blog</a> if you are at all interested in the nuts &amp; bolts of running a website.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>The second bit of great news is the launching of my Etsy Shop, <a title=”Mairose Boutique Etsy Shop” href=”http://etsy.com/mairoseboutique.com&#8221; target=”_blank”>Mairose Boutique</a>, where I am able to share with you all of the lovely <strong>vintage</strong> nightgowns, robes, slips and shapewear that I find in my travels around New England. Please take a peek! I’d love to hear your feedback about the shop, and the pretty little things I’ve found so far.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”><a href=”http://www.etsy.com/listing/98695091/vintage-1970s-christian-dior-peignoir?ref=v1_other_1″><img class=”aligncenter wp-image-1495″ title=”IMG_7774″ src=”http://mairoseboutique.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_7774.jpg&#8221; alt=”” width=”320″ height=”480″ /></a></p>
I’d be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to stop and smell the roses; this is a project that I have been working on, and towards, for many months (and years, if I’m being honest). Launching a website that more closely resembles my aesthetic, and being able to launch an online shop is just the first stop on my path to breathing real life into my dream of opening a brick &amp; mortar boutique. I can’t help but smile ear-to-ear and giggle like a wee thing whenever I look at this finished product. Its like seeing part of my dream actually materialize!
<p style=”text-align: center;”><a href=”http://mairoseboutique.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_7822.jpg”><img class=”aligncenter wp-image-1498″ title=”IMG_7822″ src=”http://mairoseboutique.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_7822.jpg&#8221; alt=”” width=”480″ height=”320″ /></a></p>
For those of you that have followed my blog from the beginning, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! For anyone stopping by for the first time, I hope you love what you see and come back often! My obsession with lingerie never wavers, and I look forward to this new phase of my life.

Much love to you!

Garden Stroll

9 Mar

This breezy, ethereal photo shoot is making me long for warm days when only the most minimal of clothing could possibly be comfortable.I love the frilly, floral and utterly feminine mood; if you are bold enough for wearing lingerie as outer-wear, this is a perfect bit of inspiration for pulling that off.

Let’s go cherry picking and stain our fingers purple!

Gothic Romance

7 Mar

I don’t usually go in for fetish wear, but parts of this photo shoot are stunning and dark. Natalie Shau & Hideo (caution, link is NSFW and contains some graphic fetish imagery in case that’s not your thing) have captured a romantic, dark mood with frothy black lace and giant black roses. This is like something out of a Gothic fairy tale, conjuring thoughts of tangled, deep-black forests and brambles that reach out to pull you into a thorny embrace.

Stunning. The last image is a bit freak-show, but I love it the line it straddles between art and erotica. What do you think, dear reader?

Summertime Fever

6 Mar

Dear Summertime,

I peeked outside my window just now, and it’s dreary, cold, and grey. I long to see green grass and flowering tree branches; to taste fresh peaches from a tree. To get my fingers dirty in garden soil and take slow strolls around the neighborhood. I want to have picnics and take drives to far-off places with the windows rolled down. Fresh air! WARM air! Please hurry up and get here already, sunshine! In the meantime, I’ll just keep myself busy by gathering wardrobe inspiration.

My summer-style inspiration this year is candy-colors, polka-dots, towering platform espadrilles, and pin-up gals of the 50’s. I want to spend a lot of time out in the garden this year, so rompers and petal pushers are just the ticket for me! This photo shoot was featured in Elle Bulgaria’s August 2011 issue, but it’s so much fun, I couldn’t resist sharing.

What about you, butter-cup? What’s your inspiration for warmer weather?

Erotique Cirque

5 Mar

This photo shoot featured in XO Magazine is tickling my circus-bone. I love the black-and-white stripes, the tulle skirt, the shiny black basque. Wonderful inspiration for a steampunk outing, a Victorian-inspired boudoir session, or for playing ringmaster of the bedroom. All that’s missing is a top hat, a chair, and a lion in need of taming! Mrrrow!

Amuse-Bouche has launched a new collection of dainty wedding garters, and I am in love with them!

They are handmade to order from materials sourced in the UK, and are thus quite limited edition and very unique. I love the intricately hand-cut lace and pretty bows.

Sunday Sweets

4 Mar

Happy Sunday, kittens!

I’m relaxing in my apartment today, sorting through my belongings, packing, and cleaning. I move out of my single-gal apartment in just three short weeks, and then it’s the start of a new chapter in my life (wherein I consolidate my belongings, place them into storage, and live as minimally as possible in my in-law’s home). I’m excited for a change of scenery, and the opportunity to save some money so me & my honey can start a business, find a home for ourselves, and walk forward into a future together. “Times, they are a-changing”.

The past week has been full of ups-and-downs, but I’m determined to only think of the positive and stay above the fray. There were so many monumental moments that I would be remiss to not mention; for one, my business-to-be now has a beautiful logo, designed by the lovely and talented Heather “Violette”, proprietress of Viva La Violette.

I’m so happy with the way the logo turned out; despite my being a very finicky client, Heather patiently endured my long emails and produced a beautiful and fitting logo. I cannot wait to have business cards printed! I’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time (too long to openly admit)!

I also set-up a twitter exclusively for Mairose, and received a very surprising welcome from so many people. I’m just glad to have separated it from my personal twitter; now all of you lovelies won’t have to see so many photos of my cat, ha!

Some of you may be wondering, “where is this boutique?”. So far, the boutique exists only in my head; it is my life-dream to open a lingerie boutique and while I know it will happen one day, today is not that day. And I’m okay with that. In the meantime I plan, I dream, I make four hundred thousand lists of projects and goals, and I make as much progress as I can every day.

Soon, I will be opening an etsy shop featuring vintage lingerie, nightgowns and loungewear. I have already found so many amazing pieces that I cannot wait to share with you! Stay tuned!!

I’d like to thank everyone for joining me on this journey, and I hope you will stick around to see where the road leads!
